F/LT Arthur Gerald Donahue, DFC (29 January 1913 – 11 September 1942) was an American fighter pilot who volunteered to fly for the British Royal Air Force in World War II. He was one of 11 American pilots who flew with RAF Fighter Command between 10 July and 31 October 1940, thereby qualifying as 1 of only 10 Americans eligible for the Battle of Britain clasp to the 1939–45 campaign star. This book recounts his experiences flying with 258 Squadron in the Far East. Upon his return to 91 Squadron in England, flying out of Hawkinge, he was killed in action during a recce over France, near to Dunkirk, in September 1942 whilst flying a Spitfire Vb designated BL511. Despite an extensive search by motor launches and colleagues from 91 Squadron his body was never recovered.
