WW2 - German WH "Sumpftarn 43" Camouflage RBNr. 0/0250/0336
Wehrmacht Non-Reversible 'Sumpftarn' Camouflage Winter Parka & Trousers (Tarnungs Jacke und Hose), and Cold Weather Hood (Kopfhaube).
This camouflage pattern was designated 'Sumpftarnmuster' (tan/water pattern). The winter parka's and trousers were standard issue items and were distributed to all EM/NCO’s for the winter season, (15 September to 15 April), with other winter garments and were to be returned to the units clothing depot in April for storage, repair and cleaning to be reissued the following September.
Both the parka and trousers are in really excellent condition despite having been stored for 80 years, see photos. The parka and trousers are still showing nice bright colours. The parka through use has lost its original RB.Nr markings, though the pants are nicely RB.Nr. the parka is size '2' and the trousers are size '3' marked as a matching set. I'd guess the jacket saw more use than the trousers. The rayon lining has a couple of storage/use marks but nothing to deter from the uniform's integrity or originality. No rips, tears, or obvious abrasions I can see. The set, made in Berlin (0250) is complete with the original sand coloured suspenders and original toggles (invariably detached and lost). The parka and trousers were designed large enough to fit over the standard service uniform and will fit a mannequin easily. The hood, marked RBNr also, is in truly exceptional shape, despite the slightest abrasion damage to the neck skirt on the rayon lining - the rest of the hood is near perfect, beautifully stitched and showing very little use.
An extremely rare (especially in this condition and configuration), complete, and nice original matching parka and trousers with separate hood, that would be near on impossible to upgrade to better !
A well used parker and trouser set, with no suspenders and a fair amount of damage and use evidence sold on another antiques site for £2500, and a parker on its own for £2450 on another. This is the best set, and I mean set complete with hood, you'll find. All that is missing are mittens - and those are a unicorn thing, possibly undiscoverable, let alone in unabused condition.
